A Declaration Urging the Hong Kong Government to Stop Political Oppression
Since the Mong Kok Fishball Revolution happened from the midnight on 8th February (1st Day of the Lunar New Year) to early in the morning on 9th February (2nd Day of Lunar New Year), the Hong Kong government keeps on arresting the protestors for “Riot” (to imprisonment for 10 years), including Edward Leung (the candidate number 6 of the New Territories East Legislative Council By-Election) and Ray Wong from the Hong Kong Indigenous. Moreover the police used unnecessary and unreasonable forces when they were arresting the protestors, which is a crazy political oppression against localism. We strongly condemn the politlcal oppression by the Hong Kong government on the dissidents.
The Fishball Revolution is a radical resistance against the tyranny. The officers of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department tried to prosecute all the hawkers in Mong Kok during Lunar New Year holiday, which aroused the discontent of the citizens and led to conflicts. As a result the police used pepper spray, truncheon and shields against the protestors and even fired warning shots. Inevitably the protesters hit back for self-defence. Many young people have become political prisoners and are now facing with the prosecution of imprisonment for 10 years just because they defend the social justice.
We demand the Hong Kong government to stop political arrests and prosecutions, but investigate the responsibilities of the police who involved in the suppression of the demonstration.
The Lord said, “Execute ye judgment and righteousness, and deliver the spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor: and do no wrong, do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, nor the widow, neither shed innocent blood in this place.” (Jeremiah 22:3) Executing righteousness and defending the poor is our mission and the Lord’s commandment to us. We must be faithful to the commandment unto death, for “Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.” (Proverbs 13:6)
